The Goethe Certificate can be completed within the framework of various educational programs at the Goethe Institute. It includes special German courses and German examinations. These are geared towards the acquisition of various certificates. Many Goethe certificates are recognized as proof of a university degree. However, obtaining a Goethe certificate in German is also essential for vocational training.

Levels of the Goethe Zertifikats

A1 + A2 Exams

The A1 certificate with the basics is aimed at the acquisition of basic language skills. The Goethe Zertifikat A1 Start Deutsch 1 builds on this. Fit in Deutsch or Goethe Zertifikat A2 meets the requirements of Level 2 of the CEFR’s scale of competence.

B + C Exams

B1 includes the independent use of the German language. The Goethe Certificate with advanced examination topics stands for advanced German language skills. Tests for the Goethe Zertifikat C2 are based on the comprehension of challenging scripts and a flexible use of the German language in everyday life.

Goethe Test Pro

The Goethe Test Pro is based on tests for company employees who want to achieve a high level of German language skills.

Students prepare for all tests and exams with practice materials that are subject to the Framework Regulations for German Language Exams. The external examinations last between 90 and 360 minutes.
